Requirements: The group needs to propose a product or company for the purpose of this assessment. Details of group membership and product/company must be submitted to the tutor for approval by the end of the session 3. It is recommended that groups opt for a product rather than a company, as it may be difficult to collect data from companies. Group Formation Due: End of Week 3′s Tutorial Session Group Report Due: 1 October 2017, 23:59 pm (AEST) Each member in the group is required to select one (1) supply chain processes that underlines the moving a product (of the group’s choice) from the suppliers to the end consumers (not limited to) e.g. demand management, procurement, operations, warehousing, distribution, transportation etc. Student members in each group will have to present their findings on i) supply chain activities found for the selected processes (based on member numbers) for the moving of the product from the suppliers to the customers ii) the contribution of the activities to supply chain management. Each member in the group will need to select one (1) supply chain function that underlines the movement of the product from the raw supplier to the end consumer. The supply chain function includes (not limited to): • Demand Management • Order fulfilment • Procurement and sourcing • Production operations • Warehousing and distributions • Transportation • Supply chain technologies • Supply chain networks • Supply chain relationships • Supply chain sustainability Example A group of four members Bryan, Chloe, David and Elena decided to select Chocolates as their product. Member Bryan, Chloe, David and Elena will individual pick a supply chain process that they prefer. After group discussion, it was decided: • Bryan picks on the procurement of raw materials for the production of chocolates • Chloe selects manufacturing and explains the activities/process for the chocolates production • David chooses transportation and discusses the transportation modes and issues associated with the movement of finished goods • Elena select supply chain relationships and elaborates on partnerships in the chocolate supply chain Groups are required to write up a formal report (approximately 4000 words +/10%) to fully elaborate on their selection of their product, supply chain functions and activities. A recommended structure is given below. 3 Recommended Report Structure • Introduction o Desсrіption of product or company • An overview of supply chain aspect/processes selected by the group o Supply Chain Functions o Procurement ▪ Explanation of procurement related activities and process in the supply chain o Manufacturing ▪ Explanation of manufacturing related activities and process in the supply chain o Transportation ▪ Explanation of transportation related activities and process in the supply chain o Supply Chain Relationships ▪ Explanation of supply chain relationships and process in the supply chain • Identification of Issues o Elaborate on any potential contemporary issues that may affect SCM from the perspectives of the selected supply processes/aspects given above. For example, uncertainty of supplies, lack of market, high competition, natural disasters etc. • Discussion & Conclusion o Discuss the lessons learnt from this report in relation to the concepts learnt from lectures. o Suggest any limitations of this research report
