Employers can do a number of things to comply with the standards of OSHA among them the following:
First and foremost they should examine workplace conditions to make sure they conform to applicable OSHA standards. They should also make sure that employees have and use safe tools and equipment and also properly maintain such equipment. In case there are any hazardous or dangerous chemicals in the working area there needs to be written communication indicating the danger that such chemicals pose and also the employees need to be trained on the hazards they are exposed to and the proper precautions.
Employers should also be in a position to provide medical examinations and training when required by OSHA standards. They should also be able to provide access to medical records and exposure records to the employees or their authorized representatives. They should also keep a record of all work related illnesses and injuries.
The following penalties are issued by OSHA in the case where any of their regulations are broken. A fine of up to $12471 where there is serious failure to meet the requirements. The fine rises up to $124709 when there is a repeated violation of the rules and regulations set by OSHA.
OSHAs violation penalties are fair enough. They represent the best interest for all employers in all institutions. The fact that they are high means that employers will not easily break or fail to adhere to such rules hence the outcome is a good working environment for all employees where fear of disease or injury is not present.
