laid out by Socrates in the Republic, make
an argument as to which type of soul the Greek hero, Diomedes, possesses.
Remember there are five types of souls: the soul under the best regime, which
Socrates lays out in great detail, and the four other types of souls discussed
in book eight.
In order to argue this prompt, you
will need to draw evidence both from the Iliad
and from the Republic. The format
for this paper should be exactly like the last paper:
Use quotes to support your argument and cite
the book and the line numbers (also cite the page from Lambardo’s translation).
Citations should be placed made in footnotes. Insert the footnote at the end of
the sentence that contains the quote (e.g. “Rage: Sing, Goddess, Achilles’
Rage.”). Your paper should be
written in Times New Roman 12 pt. font. Your paper should be one page,
double-spaced, justified (control/command j), with one-inch margins.
