An organization is seen as the innermost circle of other overlapping circles. Moving out from the organization is the industry. The next circle depicts the global environment and the outermost circle represents the global markets. The business environment is influenced by the social and cultural environment, legal and regulatory environment, economic environment, political environment, and technological environment. “Globalisation as, primarily, ‘a redistribution of privileges and deprivations, of wealth and poverty, of resources and impotence’ (Bauman, 1998, p. 43) widens the scope of choice for some and drastically narrows it for some others” (Papastephanou, 2005).
· Identify at least two ethical issues that go along with the global societal topic you have chosen for your final essay.
Discrimination and respect are two ethical issues that goes along with my topic of income inequality and poverty. “More than at any other time in history, the future of humankind is being shaped by issues that are beyond any one nation’s ability to solve” (Bhargava, 2006).

“Globalization generally refers to the increasing integration of economies around the world, particularly through trade, production chains (where parts for a final good, such as an automobile, are produced in one country and assembled in another), and financial flows” (Bhargava, 2006). With changes in today’s society, income inequality has become a big factor in that no all people and countries are paid the same wages for the same trade or job skills. When it comes to poverty, individuals in lower income brackets and those that have no income at all still desire to have respect. These issues are not localized they affect individuals globally.
· Propose solutions to these ethical dilemmas that are feasible financially, socially, and culturally.
As it relates to income inequality, I think that if laws were put in place every individual was seen as one regardless of their gender or race then that would decrease the income inequality issues. Poverty seems a bit different in that there are some that are comfortable in their situation but for those who want a way out, they should be looked down on and be afforded the same options as others.

Globalization, Ethics and Moral Reasoning The Implications resulting from Globalization: As the world is evolving economically and technologically, globalization has helped in uniting people worldwide. However, it does not fully benefit the local community as it is expected. According to Arditi (2007), since globalism seem to favor the international community more, which significantly constitute the rich countries. As a result, there have been immense inequality in the distribution of resources and revenue collected from the global market (Arditi, 2007). With that being said, usually the international laws that guide globalization policies are created by the superpower nations. The laws that emerge from such creation are not strict since they do not pay attention to the interest of the local person concerning the health and economic development (Arditi, 2007). Also, Globalization poses a threat on the sovereignty of independent governments (Arditi, 2007). It provides opportunities for neocolonialism and neoliberalism where developed nations tend to rule the developing states (Arditi, 2007). The stable governments are considered to be adequate in setting the global policies, which, of course, advantages more than the unstable ones from the third-world countries. The Ethical Issues which have been contributed due to the result of Globalization: Globalization play significant role to global ethical issues due to the cultural diversity in the global community. The major morality challenge in globalism concern is the democratic values and business policies, Since Nations tend to employ different leadership systems that follow different democratic structures (Qun, 2010). For instance, there are countries that follow aristocracy while other will use presidency, and others kingship. Notably what may seem right to a certain country may look wrong to another. For instance, in countries like Dubai that are led by rulers, appointments of officials is mainly done by the rulers unlike countries with full structure governance where many institutions are involved. International business is challenged by the different approaches to aspects such financial management, legalization and il legalization in production, and marketing (Qun, 2010). In most cases, strategies imposed by the developed countries tend to be termed as vandalizing to the developing nations. The Possible Solutions to help improve Ethical Issues and Dilemmas: In my view, equity should be achieved in global policies to eradicate the ethical issues. All nations in the global should be included in the setting of the system to ensure harmony. As a result, there will be a common understanding of cultural and market strategies among countries.
The ongoing decision to remain ethical and moral in pursuit of personal, academic, and professional interests requires thoughtful attention and continued dedication. It means to remain critical of your actions and behaviors and the consequences that those actions have on others. As we progress through life, we become educated and this education aids in our development of moral character. Lawrence Kohlberg (1975) stated, “Education…is to aid development through these moral levels, not by indoctrination but by supplying the conditions for movement from stage to stage” (p. 47). Those three levels of moral development are: Premoral or preconventional cognitive behavior, conventional level in which the individual accepts group standards with little reflection, and finally, autonomous level of behavior in which conduct is guided by the individual thinking and judging for himself whether an action is good but not without self-reflection (Kohlberg, L. 1975. P. 47). These levels, or stages of moral development, are inclusive of personal, academic, and professional aspects. As we grow and learn what constitutes a morally wise or appropriate decision, we grow our comprehension of what is ethical. It remains however, that ethics and moral character are managed at social, judicial, and individual levels of analysis and are largely subjective to the person who is interpreting them.
Using an example from my academic life, I will draw from my ethical experience with a fellow pupil’s apparent use of plagiarism from my original works on a discussion post. It was during my Informal Logic class; PHI103. As with any course, we had weekly discussion forums and responses to complete after each one. I was going through the forum, looking for a discussion to reply to, and in reading one, observed something that felt awfully familiar. I was reading the student’s discussion, but somehow it felt like I had read it before. I quickly realized I was reading my exact discussion post, only it was posted by another student. This was a huge ethical dilemma for me. As it states throughout the Ashford website, all of our course curriculums, and user agreements, that plagiarism is a serious offense, one that can result in expulsion from school. I resolved the issue by sending a concise email to my instructor, giving the name of the student, a synopsis of the plagiarized work and a request to evaluate my claims. After a short while, the instructor emailed me back stating that he would handle the case and has had direct correspondence with the student to correct the matter. I felt that it was the right thing to do, not only because I felt grossly violated that someone would easily and carelessly undermine my work, but I was concerned that it would not have been identified if I did not catch it.
Aside from the example provided and the statements on education’s use in furthering moral decision making, the general education courses at Ashford have been influential in my growth in ethics and moral behavior by expanding my comprehension of the study of ethics, and conversely its consequences. It has led to experiences with classmates and the discussion forums have been incremental in guiding my own thoughts on what it means to live ethically and morally sound. The philosophy courses have been particularly helpful in dissecting the various social and psychological outcomes from which ethics are derived. Specifically Aristotle’s virtue ethics, in which we examine living a life of moral character, and obtaining virtue through practice that culminates in a life worth living.

Being ethical means knowing what is right from wrong, having these virtues allows us to avoid the modern evils (Gong & Zhang, 2010). There’s evil that could be allowed to creep in if the person is not being true to their virtues, not having academic integrity would affect you receiving the proper education for example.
An ethical dilemma that I encountered was years ago when I was an airman. I worked in the relocations section, this was before the technology we have today, and relocation orders were completed on a typewriter at each base. I had a friend who wanted out of their lease at their apartment complex and had asked if I would type up relocation orders for them saying they are relocating to a new state to get out of their lease early without paying the early termination fee. I knew immediately it was wrong and if we got caught there would be severe punishment for it. It wasn’t right to use the government to fake orders to get out of something and expressed as much. This friend slowly stopped talking to me and I knew it was for the better because that was not the type of person I wanted to be associated with.
The general education courses helped with my ethical values, when writing papers for the different assignments reminds me to have academic integrity and to ensure I’m citing my sources and not taking credit for statements I have found in my research. The Ethics and Morale reasoning course really gave me the background I needed though to help with recognizing the different ethical values and cement my own values.
