Crowdfunding sites, such as Kickstarter, have changed the ways potential entrepreneurs raise capital. For background on crowdfunding, please refer to the articles on this site:http://www.entrepreneur.com/topic/crowdfunding (Links to an external site.). Please take a minute to review some of the projects on one of the crowdfunding websites, such as Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com (Links to an external site.)). Please select a business concept that is being pitched on one of these crowdfunding websites (do no select somebody that is trying to raise money to pay medical bills, or other “donation” requests) and discuss the following: 1) Identify the company that is using a crowdfunding strategy and describe its product. 2) Explain how this product is different than what is currently on the market. 3) Discuss the advantages of pursuing a crowdfunding strategy, as opposed to typical financing (loans from family or friends, personal bank loans, or credit cards). 4) Analyze the information being provided to the potential investor. Is there additional information that you would have liked to have seen? 5) Evaluate the crowdfunding campaign thus far and state whether it has met its goal (and why you believe it has), or explain whether you believe the company will or will not meet its goal. 6) Explain whether you would invest in this company and provide your reasoning. Please cite and reference all sources used. I do not have a preference on how you format the citations (APA, MLA, etc.), although I do require a separate Reference or Works Cited page. The general rule of thumb is that if it is not considered common knowledge by the general public, you must include a citation. Failure to do so will result in no credit being earned for the assignment and may result in additional sanctions for violation of the honor code. As an aside, Wikipedia (and encyclopedias in general) are not considered proper sources. With that being said, should you use these, you must cite them. Your submission should be a 600-800 word paper that fully addresses the requirements outlined above. This should be double-spaced, use 12 points Times New Roman, and include proper citation. If your submission is not received by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, it will be considered late an incur a 10% deduction for each day (or part of a day) that it is late until Day 5, after which you will not earn any credit.
