Purpose: To gain skills in research and APA bibliography writing, help you organize your thoughts, ideas, and sources in preparation for writing a research paper Include: Draft thesis statement (underline it); a brief outline of your essay based on the research; and annotated bibliography using APA style. A minimum of eight academic sources is required. An annotated bibliography differs from a typical bibliography in that it not only provides reference information for a source, but also a description and (sometimes) an evaluation of the source. For your annotated bibliography, you should include the following: 1. A full citation for the source (in APA style) 2. A 3-5 sentence description or summary of the source. Note that you do not need to summarize the source entirely, especially if it is a book. Simply provide a summary of those aspects of the source that are relevant to your essay. 3. A 3-5 sentence description of why the source is relevant to your essay topic. For each annotation, state how you intend to use the source in your essay. Does it support your argument? Do you intend to use it as a counterexample? Does it provide a theoretical framework?
