In this project, a Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT) Differential Amplifier (Sedra & Smith, 2009) is successfully designed according to given specifications while validating its performance through the use of Advanced Design System (ADS) software by Keysight Technologies.
. With the advent of integrated-circuit (IC) fabrication technology, discrete amplifier design using analog components such as resistors and capacitors is avoided. In IC design, constant-current sources are replaced by a process known as current steering, where current mirrors with improved performance are used to properly bias the circuit.
Design specifications include A Single-ended differential gain of 95 V/V and adequate rejection of specified Common Mode signals in the presence of desired signals. A study of current mirrors allows the project to meet the Single-ended common-mode gain | ACM, SE | ≤ 0.0025 V/V.
