Content: Write a 3-4 page report on the article: A Theory of African American Offending, by Unnever & Gabbidon, posted on Canvas.
Requirements are as follows: Title page (1 page long), Original content (4 pages, read below), Reference page (1 page long). Details of each of these:
Title Page: should include: Article title, authors name, year published, your name, class number/title, instructor name (page #1, but not numbered). Original Content should include the following: this section is generally a summary of the article’s themes (Pages 2-5 numbered).
Start by introducing the selected article and its purpose/goal(s). If available, why was the article written? Then, write your review and commentary on the topics covered. For example, what is covered on each section of the article? Which criminology theories are mentioned or used throughout the articles? Based on what you have learned in this course, were you aware of these authors (if yes, how) if not, why not? why are these authors not mentioned in traditional textbooks (or in your textbook)? Do you think the authors are using theory in different ways than other authors (non-African Americans)?, Do you think the authors are using the findings in different ways than other authors (non-African Americans)? In general, will it make a difference to have more minority professionals (yes or no and explain your position); as a student and based on what you have learned so far, what can you do to improve the way we explain minority crime/delinquency?

Some Rubric
The Reference page should list only the article used. You should not be using any other references. Remember that a paragraph should contain between 4 to 8 complete sentences. APA style requires a title page, with the name of the paper, your name, and the name of the university in the middle of the page. You may use a maximum of 4 direct quotes from the article. No quote may be longer than 4 typed lines. All quotes must be cited with the page number from the book, in proper APA format. It is not required to use direct quotes in your report. A maximum of 20 points will be deducted for grammar and spelling errors. A maximum of 20 points will be deducted for APA errors. Be sure to ask others to help you proof read your paper for errors. Use Grammarly. The article report is worth 20% of the final grade for the course. Upload your paper using the following two systems: Taskstream and Canvas. Taskstream is an assessment tool used by PV to measure learning objectives. Turnitin is a tool used to document plagiarism, and second submission of student work. All papers will be automatically assessed through Turnitin when submitted to Canvas. More than 12% plagiarism will not be allowed (up to 15 points deducted). All reports must be uploaded to these systems found on the home page of Canvas. Therefore, do not email me your report. Do not submit a hard copy of your report. Submit the report at the link provided on the home page.

Grade: A-B Pnts: 99-80. The paper comprehensively addresses the subject matter. The thesis, arguments, and all supporting evidence show a clear understanding of the issues. The paper clearly, effectively and insightfully develops and conveys a point of view. Its organization and focus is also very clear, coherent, and ideas smoothly progress from one to the other and also demonstrating excellent critical thinking and supported with appropriate examples. The writer followed the general instructions offered on the syllabus. There are no major errors in vocabulary, sentence structure, spelling, citation, punctuation, and paragraphing. Citations meet APA format, and a complete Bibliography is presented on a separate page. The paper was written by the student (low similarity Turnitin score). COMMENTS Grade B-C Pnts: 80-79. The paper shows mastery of the subject matter; however, showing occasional errors in thought and quality, arguments not clearly and effectively and convincingly developed and presented, demonstrate some-reasonable- critical thinking, some coherence in thought, and progression of ideas; but with occasional mistakes which do not impede the meaning and clarity of the statement in grammar, word selection, sentence structure, spelling, paragraphing. The writer followed some of the general instructions offered on the syllabus. A few citations do not meet APA format; a complete Bibliography is not presented on a separate page. While there are sections written by the student and others that are not due to the similarity Turnitin score (midrange high). COMMENTS Grade C or lower Pnts: 79-0. The paper shows a low understanding of the subject matter and has significant errors that compromise the quality of the paper. One or more of the important elements of the paper is missing. The paper, in significant respects, is unfocused and or disjointed and incoherent. There are many grammatical, sentence structure, and spelling mistakes. Lacks a thesis; there is no coherent progression of ideas and thought. Paper lacks clarity and has many flaws in content and ideas.
